Zak's adventures begin when his grandpa gives him a talisman with special powers. From this day on, Zak's life is never the same. Starting with the sound 'ay', each of the 10 books in the first series introduces one phoneme and its alternative spellings. Talisman 1 shares the same phonic progression as the Rescue and Island Adventure series and can be used in parallel.

Talisman Card Games (sold separately) may be found under Additional Materials. These absorbing games reinforce common consonant digraphs and variant spellings of vowel sounds, and may be used in tandem with the Talisman Series.
